5 things:

In an attempt to think more positively I have started to name 5 things a day that make me happy.
1.) Painting with the Pickle.
2.) The Chickadee getting over her cold.
3.) Wild Oats Bulk food section.
4.) Almost being done with Jenny's Afghan.
5.) Mint Tea

And 3 choices
1.) I choose to be an inspiration.
2.) I choose to be a positive influence.
3.) I choose to have a tidy home.

Languages

I've always wanted to learn a second language but I'm just not so good at memorizing verb congugations etc. I took French in highschool and passed it by 1 point. I think spend a year in Finland and learned barely enough Finnish to get by. In college I decided to throw it all out the window and took Spanish. I have decided to try and learn a little French again and thought that a good way would be to start with the "teach kids French" CD's at the library. I also thought that it would be good to get some movies in French and listen to the language.

I borrowed Amelie from the library. Oh my GOODNESS! I love this movie! I of course had heard good things about it but didn't realize how it would resonate. I'm not sure what it is. We certainly don't live very comparable lives. It is the first movie that I have thought that I actually want to own in order to watch it over and over again.

After revieweing our cable bill, D decided to cancel our movie channels. There was a brief discussion about cancelling cable all together, but that makes my heart beat fast. It would be a good thing, but I'm not sure I can give it up. I try to think that most things I watch are available on line but I'm still not ready to make that jump.

Instead.... I joined netflix. I know! That's the wrong direction. My initial thought was to join to have access to more French movies. I made my queue, which has almost 100 DVD's in it. We'll see how this goes. I joined 1 movie at a time with unlimited rentals and unlimited shows on line. Which I thought could tide me over while I waited on the round trip of a movie. I'm going to give it the 2 week trial and see if I actually watch them, or if it is a waste.

I have been having issues at home, just being overwhelemed and feeling unappreciated. I scheduled a long weekend up at my parents house, me and the kids. I am hoping that it will give me the time to get my brother and sister in law's quilt done and spark some creativity for me.

The Plague has lifted

Whew... so we have been sick. The pickle started with it, he passed it on to me, I did my best to fight it off but the Chickadee came down with it. Poor poor Chickadee. She had a runny nose and a cough. She wasn't able to eat solid food for a couple of days because it would cause her to cough and up would come what she had just eaten. Luckily, I believe we are all on the mend. Well, D was out of town a bit last week so he caught it a few days after the rest of us, but he is getting better too.

The Pickle has been saying the funniest things when he wakes up from his nap. The other day he told me that there was an orange cat and then the cat turned into me and he was a cat and Heidi was a cat. Another day he woke up and told me the color of everyone that he could think of hair.

I borrowed an amigurimi book from the library and as I was looking though it he asked me to read him the words. He then took the book from me and told me that he was going to make me the pig and could I please get him some pink yarn. It was so cute. I really need to get him more involved in crafts that I do, or do more crafts with him. He loves to paint and color and I need to offer him other options and materials to work with.
